Life of Black Hawk by Black Hawk

About the author:

Black Hawk was a Sauk Indian chief, born at the mouth of the Rock River in Illinois. Trying to stop the Westward expansion of white settlers, he led Sauk and Fox Indians against whites in the Black Hawk War of 1832. Black Hawk’s surrender marked the end of Indian-held lands in the Illinois region.
