Reading to a therapy dog is a great way for a child to practice reading. The library is visited by three therapy dogs: Ruby, Sara and Willow. Our therapy dogs don’t mind when words are sounded out, skipped over, or misspoken. They just love hearing children read! Children read for 5-10 minutes. Children choose their book but will have the most fun reading a story they have read before. Doggie Tales meets on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 pm and some Fridays as part of Hot Chocolate Fridays. Call (815) 223-0229 x 5 for more information or to sign up.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
