Creative Thinking: Children, Parents, & Working Together
at the Peru Library - Thursday - January 31 - 6:30 p.m.

Join local artist & art instructor Kathleen Cofoid & her son Zach as they speak about how creative thinking can help children & family in the world of school, sports, & life challenges. Kathleen & Zach currently have a selection of their drawings, paintings & glasswork on display in the library. This event is free & open to the public. Registration is recommended.

Martin Luther King Day Events at The Peru Public Library

FIRE BELOW: The Cherry Mine Disaster of 1909
Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
Join local author Ron G. Bluemer as he presents his eighth book
in a series on the history of the Illinois Valley. Mr. Bluemer
provides factual information on the Cherry Mine disaster collected
from newspaper interviews and personal published accounts.
This program will be held in the lower level of the library,
is free, and open to the public.

Need tax assistance? The IRS & AARP will help!
Free Tax Aid Available At the Peru Library
From February 4 - April 15 the Peru Public Library will host a FREE tax assistance program. A certified tax assistant will be available at the library from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays & Tuesdays to assist low & middle income families & senior citizens with filing their tax returns. All federal & state forms will be filed electronically. Appointments may be made by calling the Peru Library at 815-223-0229. This program is administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS.

The February 5th Illinois primary election is just weeks away.
