Youth

Youth Services, located on the library’s lower level, offers books, classes, activities, and events for children birth through age 12 in a fun and welcoming environment. Our collection has over 10,500 books that are leveled according to the accelerated reader.

Resources to help prepare children for kindergarten and build reading skills are available, including:

Board Books are sturdy, perfect for introducing babies and toddlers to books.

Growing Readers Play & Learn Kits focus on concepts children need to learn before beginning Kindergarten.

Sight Word Readers help build language fluency. These books consist entirely of sight words with a rebus style picture for harder words.

I Like to Read series designed with simple sentences using familiar words and repetition for reinforced learning.

Joy Cowley’s Mrs. Wishy Washy series are humorous stories with Guided Reading Levels perfect for the beginning reader.

We Both Read series encourages shared reading between the adult and child. While the adult text provides interesting information, children practice reading at their reading level.
