  • Cupcake and Cookie Decorating for Kids 9-12

    Learn to decorate cupcakes and cookies as you practice the project of the week. Kids gain hands-on experience with coloring frosting, using decorating tips, piping bags, and more.

    Additional Dates are July 15 and July 22

  • Bad Kitty Needs A Story-For Children 8-9 years

    This 3 week program is Inspired by Bad Kitty: Drawn To Trouble by Nick Bruel, kids learn the basics of creating a story.Each week kids explore a different component of the story writing and create their own Bad Kitty Tale.  

    Additional dates are July 15 and July 22. Students are expected to attend all 3 sesions.

    Join us for lap bounces, lifts, songs, and finger plays designed to stimulate babies. Fun ways to use music, shakers, scarves, and books with babies are demonstrated.   • Color Me Calm

    Miss coloring? Listen to your inner child and relax. Drop by between 10 and 12 for coloring, coffee and companionship the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month. Coffee, coloring sheets, and colored pens and pencils will be provided. Color Me Calm is held in the library's meeting room on the lower level. This program is for adults only.

  • Doggie Tales

    Help your child gain confidence in reading by reading to Ruby or Lila, certified therapy dogs. Kids read for approximately 5-10 minutes. Non-readers may also participate by telling Ruby a story from pictures. Register by calling 815-223-0229 ext. 5. An adult must attend with the child.

  • Wiggles and Giggles Best for Children 1-3

    A free and fun interactive class for children 1-3 years old. Caregivers and children join in the fun of music and movement combined with the use of shakers, bells, scarves and more. Each class is themed around a short story. Art and make and take crafts along with sensory, dramatic and other play and learn activities follow each session. Older and younger siblings are welcome to attend. Enjoy the flexibility of coming when you can and we understand when families cannot attend.

    TAG Members:
    Encourage teen involvement in the library
    Promote and encourage reading by teens
    Take a leadership role in the planning and hosting of teen programs, services, and events
    Advise the library on teen interests and trends
    Help library staff choose books teens will need for homework and for enjoyment

    The Peru Library TAG meets on the last Friday of the month at 3:30. Snacks are provided.

  • Game On 17 & Up

    Get your game on! Anyone over the age of 17 is welcome to join us and use any of the available gaming consoles (Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, Playstations) the library has to offer as well as any of the games (any rating tonight!). You can also use any of the 10 PCs we have for interactive games or use our tables for classic board and card games with your friends! Participants are welcome to bring their own games to play in addition to the games offered by the library.

  • Stitches Daycation

    The library's annual trip to the Chicago-area Yarn Crawl and Stitches on Friday, August 2nd. The van leaves the Peru Library at 8:50, stopping in Ottawa at 9:20 then onto Stitches! The van returns to the Peru Library (after a stop in Ottawa) between 6-6:30 pm.

    The $35.00 fee covers entry fees, food, transportation, tolls, and gas. Tickets may be purchased by cash, check, or credit card at the Peru Public Library. Participation is limited to 11 plus driver, leaving room for Yarn Crawl purchases.

    Remember to wear comfy walking shoes!

Bring a teen rated game, we’ll play it! Teen Game Night is held on the 1st Friday of every month, is open to ages 12-18, and is a free program.
