    We film & take photos and set up gaming & audio visual equipment at teen library events. We also assist with the library’s teen facebook page, help create flyers, and create skits for promotional library videos. Snacks are always provided.
    We meet twice a month on Mondays in the library meeting room from 3:30 – 4:45. New members are always welcome.

    Help your child gain confidence in reading by reading to Sara, a certified therapy dog. Kids read to Sara for 5-10 minutes. Non-readers may also participate by telling Sara a story from pictures. Register by calling 815-223-0229 ext. 5. An adult must attend with the child.

    Kids 3rd grade and up learn the basics of creating cool cards and crafts with Ms. Linda at these hands-on card-making classes. Kids complete a card, a decorated gift bag, and a small craft.

    Each session limited to 12. Register at the Youth Services desk or call (815) 223-0229 x 5.

    Ms. Linda is an experienced Stampin’ Up demonstrator and teaches card classes to all ages.

    This program is free with supplies provided.

  • Orphan Trains with Carol Chandler

    Carol Chandler became aware of orphan trains when a friend told about her grandmother who had come west on an orphan train. Over 250,000 homeless and orphaned children from crowded eastern U.S. cities were transported on trains all over the country between 1854 and 1929. The orphan trains were the largest child migration program in the United States and they formed an important part of the settlement of the Midwest. Carol Chandler’s research covers northwestern Illinois and adjoining counties in Wisconsin and Iowa.
