Adult

The library has a variety of things to interest adults.

Collection

Our physical collection contains fiction and non-fiction books in regular and large print versions. We have audio books in cd format, dvd’s, music cd’s, magazines, newspapers, and a local history/genealogy area.

Book Clubs

Two book clubs are available for adults – the As the Pages Turn Book Club (ATPT) which meets the last Monday of the month and the 20&30 Something Book Club which meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Both clubs meet in the library’s meeting room, located on the lower level.

Genealogy

The library’s genealogy / local history collection is cataloged in PrairieCat and WorldCat for easy research. Indexes are available for the Shadensack Journals, the WestClox Tick-Talk newsletter, and portions of the local newspaper.

Programs

A variety of instructional and/or programs are offered throughout the year. Adult programs include two monthly book club:  As the Pages Turn Book Club and 20&30 Something. Our Color Me Calm group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays and the weekly Peruvian Purlers (knitting and crochet) meets on Saturday mornings. We also have evening programs. Wellness Wednesday’s, Sourdough 101, Retirement Investing, Nellie Bly, Victorian Medicine, and Abraham Lincoln are a sample of past programs.

Library programs are free. For planning purposes, registration is required for youth programs but not required for most adult and teen programs.

Check our Event Calendar for dates and times of specific events or programs. Or follow us on Facebook to keep up with events.

eBooks

We have two ebooks collections for downloading by our patrons, OMNI and eRead Illinois. Both collections also have eaudiobooks.

    1. Hi Eileen,

I apologize for the delayed response. You are welcome to attend any of our programs and clubs. Some items are only available for check-out to Peru residents, but we can assist you with those as needed. Let me know if you have any other questions.
      Kind Regards,
      Marti Pack, Program Librarian
