Brick Builder's Club for Kids 5-12 years Siblings Welcome
June 3, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Children's Library
Come for an evening of brick building with Lego's® on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
There is no fee to be in this club.Builders 5-12 years enjoy themed building challenges each session or can build their own designs. Kids build from 6-6:45 pm and each builder can present his/her design to the club members beginning at 6:45 pm.
Lego® bricks are provided. Please do not bring Lego® bricks or figures from home. Lego designs remain on display for at least 1 week. Call 815-223-0229 ext. 214 to make an initial registration. Walk-ins welcome.

Possibilities Where the Journey Begins

Nerf Wars: Teen Game Night

Ready, Aim… Fun!
Teens, get ready to lock and load! We thrilled to announce its Nerf Wars Teen Game Night on Friday, June 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM — an evening packed with adrenaline, laughter, and friendly competition all for FREE.
Open to teens ages 12 to 18, this action-filled event promises Nerf battles, prizes, drinks, and snacks. Whether you're a sharpshooter or just looking for some Friday night fun, you won’t want to miss this!
Space is limited, and spots will fill fast. To participate, sign up by May 22 at Nerf Wars. Parental online permission slips are required and can also be found on the website.
Are you in the age range of 12-18? Join us for Teen Game Night. It's a night to meet new friends, and play all games!

Dragon Fly Mission NASA Presentation

Join us for a special NASA presentation on the Dragonfly Mission, featuring Barbara Bendkowski Hilton.
Barbara is a Program Executive in the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters, overseeing the Dragonfly Mission to explore Saturn’s moon, Titan. Since beginning her NASA career in 2009 at the Langley Research Center as a Spacecraft Systems Engineer, she has taken on various roles in Planetary Science, Earth Science, and Space Technology Development.
Before NASA, she worked at Lockheed Martin in Colorado as a Spacecraft Systems Engineer, contributing to missions like Genesis, Stardust, and Mars Odyssey.
Barbara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master’s in Space Systems Operations Management from Webster University. She graduated from Saint Bede Academy in 1996.

Teen Advisory Group (TAG)

TAG Members:
- Encourage teen involvement in the library, promote and encourage reading by teens
- Take a leadership role in the planning and hosting of teen programs, services, and events
- Advise the Program Librarian on teen interests and trends
- Advise book choice for teens on what they will need for homework and enjoyment
The Peru Library TAG meets on the last Friday of the month at 3:30. Snacks are provided.

Canvas Painting Workshop

Join us at the Peru Library with our friend, Mikaila Butuso, for a Canvas Painting Workshop. She will show us how to create a whimsical canvas that goes along with our Summer Reading is Out of this World Theme. We will hold 3 separate workshops designed for Adults, Children, and Teens. Each workshop will be held in the Lower Level Meeting Room.

Movie Matinee

Join us for our Summer Reading Movie Matinee.
We will be watching the movie "Hidden Figures".
Hidden Figures uncovers the incredible story of three women who changed the space race. The film recounts the history of three black female mathematicians at NASA who helped win the space race against the Soviet Union while rocketing the quest for equal rights and opportunity forward.
