  • Brick Builder's Club

    July 16, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

    Come for an evening of brick building with Lego's® on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
    There is no fee to be in this club.

    Builders 5-12 years enjoy themed building challenges each session or can build their own designs. Kids build from 6-6:45 pm and each builder can present his/her design to the club members beginning at 6:45 pm.

    Lego® bricks are provided. Please do not bring Lego® bricks or figures from home. Lego designs remain on display for at least 1 week. Call 815-223-0229 ext. 214 to make an initial registration. Walk-ins welcome.

  • Teen Sign Painting Class

    July 17, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

    Ages 12-18 

    Paint a sign for your bedroom door with local small business owner, Jyllian Ossola!  You may recognize her name from other local sign painting classes.  Jyllian Ossola is a creative arts instructor. She is a graduate of IVCC and owns her own business, Flipping Vintage, refurbishing furniture and home decor. She has also created signs for some local businesses. Along with teaching a variety of adult education programs such as barn quilts and home decor she instructs an after-school art program in Putnam County organized by IVCC. She also works as a Special Education teacher at Lighted Way Association in LaSalle. Jyllian believes that no one is ever too young or too old to create something beautiful.

     Registration is required.  The program is FREE!

  • IL Valley Youth Symphony

    July 19, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pmMain Library

    Join us for an evening of music.   The performance will feature several musical selections, including  Schubert Marche Militaire, Finale from Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings, Soon Hee Newbold Appalachian Hymn, and other works

    Since 1987 the Illinois Valley Youth Symphony has provided students with a valuable and unique musical experience through weekly rehearsals and regular performances. Currently, the IVYSO offers 3 levels of string orchestra for students in grades 3-12.

    Miss coloring? Listen to your inner child and relax. Drop by between 10 and 12 for coloring, coffee and companionship the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month. Coffee, coloring sheets, and colored pens and pencils will be provided. Color Me Calm is held in the library's meeting room on the lower level. This program is for adults only.

    TAG Members:

    • Encourage teen involvement in the library, promote and encourage reading by teens
    • Take a leadership role in the planning and hosting of teen programs, services, and events
    • Advise the Program Librarian on teen interests and trends
    • Advise book choice for teens on what they will need for homework and enjoyment

    The Peru Library TAG meets on the last Friday of the month at 3:30. Snacks are provided.
