Reading Matters

It is difficult to explain the importance of reading. We do it nearly subconsciously – soup cans, street signs, newspapers, work reports, and Facebook posts (yes, that is reading too). We read everything around us. But reading is a learned action. Our parents and teachers taught us to read – from pointing out road signs to reading Green Eggs and Ham. Pass the joy of reading on to others. Read to your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and students. Read to your unborn child. Read to your infant. Read to an elderly friend or nursing home resident. Read to everyone.
