Louis Shadensack, long time Peru resident and mayor, kept a weather journal from September 1908 until September 1945. In the 13 volumes, Louis also included information about local deaths, river floods and war news (both First and Second). Louis’ journal is a significant view into the life of Peru in the early 20th century.
The journals, given to the library, were photocopied for easy use. An index is available for quicker reference to specific names in the journals. The photocopied journals are available in our local history and genealogy collection, they do not circulate.
The journals also act as an index to the local newspaper for the years 1908 to 1945.
