In this together! For the first time ever, the Peru Library is doing a digital Summer Reading Challenge for all ages!
2020 has been an interesting year! This summer, the library wanted to be sure we still provided our community (YOU!) with services you were used to. That’s why this year, for Summer Reading Club, we’ve partnered with Beanstack for a fun new take on Summer Reading Club. Our Summer Reading Club has become a Summer Reading Challenge and is now open to ALL AGES!
That’s right, this summer our Summer Reading Challenge is open to anyone between the ages of 0 and 99! Everyone will track their reading and have a chance to win great prizes! We’re excited to try this new service with you this summer and hope you enjoy this new, easy to use set up!
Beanstack is a website and app that helps you track the number of minutes you and your children read while earning badges for your accomplishments along the way. For every hour read, you earn a new badge! Each badge earns you a ticket that you use to enter one of the great raffles we’ve planned as prizes this summer! Reading isn’t the only way you can earn tickets though! Built into the Challenge are activity challenges.
Some of these challenges require an answer to a question, like which flower makes your heart bloom with happiness? Or “ticking” a box that you’ve completed that activity or your preferred reading method is holding a good old-fashioned book in your hand. They’re all fun ways for us to get to know you better, while you earn more tickets and badges. Each raffle is a chance to win a gift card to a local business or eatery! This was the Beanstack feature Lynn loves most! The raffles give us a chance to do something great for you and t help our community and small businesses during these unusual times.
